Dr. Zissis (Jack) Dardalis OAM
The Dardalis family and the entire team at Marathon Food Industries are saddened to announce the passing of our founder and former CEO, Jack Dardalis.
Jack started Marathon in 1963, shortly after arriving in Australia from his native Greece. Jack built his business through hard work and perseverance by supplying Fish & Chip shops all over Melbourne with their Dim Sims and Spring Rolls.
A real Titan of the industry, Jack was a passionate and dedicated man, whose larger than life persona left a lasting impression on anyone who met him. He was fond of his employees who he shared a special bond with, some of which have been at the company for generations.
Jack was awarded an Order of Australia for his services to the Australian-Greek community, particularly through charitable contributions to a range of education, health care and sporting organisations.
Sixty years on, Marathon has grown from strength to strength on the back of Jack's entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
His legacy will live on through his family run business, which brings joy to millions of Australians daily.
