BILL WOOD AM


4 November 1935 – 19 May 2024

A State Funeral Service will be held for Bill Wood AM on Tuesday 28 May 2024.

Mr Wood was elected to the Queensland Parliament as the member for Cook in 1969, and later, the ACT Legislative Assembly in 1989.

He diligently served the ACT as part of the Legislative Assembly for fifteen years and held numerous portfolios including Arts, Education, Environment and Disability Services.

Mr Wood was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2013 Australia Day Honours for significant service to the community and the Legislative Assembly of the Australian Capital Territory.

Mr Wood is survived by his wife Beverley, children Andrea and Steve, Richard and Eileen, Matthew and Fu Yang, Wendy and Cameron and grandchildren, Sylvia, Nick, Maxwell, Harry, Georgette and Bella.

The service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday 28 May 2024 at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Manuka

Family, friends, colleagues and members of the public are respectfully welcome to attend.

Guests are encouraged to arrive and be seated by 1.30pm.
