WEIR, Ian Jackson

Retired Qld Primary School Principal, Macgregor.

Aged 96

Devoted Husband to Leona (dec'd), Loving Father to Rhyllis, Glenys, Julie and Jeffrey; Beloved ‘Granddad’ to their children and grandchildren.

Ian was a well-known Qld Primary School Principal serving throughout the State including at Eulo, Boat Mountain, Norwin, Injune, Collinsville, Kilcoy, Gladstone, Serviceton South and finally Macgregor State School; where the swimming pool is named in his honour.

A dedicated Freemason, Ian affiliated with Craft Lodges wherever he was appointed.

From 1970, in Brisbane, he devoted much time to the Supreme Grand Chapter of the Order of the Holy Royal Arch and served on many projects and as Grand Instructor. Ian was awarded the highly honoured, First Grand Principal’s Special Service Award for his sterling efforts.

Ian will always be remembered as ‘a gentleman’.

Ian spent his final years living at Fassifern Aged Care, Boonah near family.

He passed to the afterlife on 14 December 2023.

In accordance with his wishes, Ian was cremated and a family-only memorial service is planned for 2024.
