Sadie Kathleen Simpson (nee Barrenger) born 13-07-1939 in Currie King Island, died in palliative care at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern on 28-09-2023. She was 84 years old and had battled ailments (blood cancer, hydatid disease, emphysema, and other issues) for many years and even more acutely these past two years since her husband Keith died. Her body was failing her, but her mind was sharp and witty to the end. She was able to say goodbye well although briefly and had a joke or two for the nurses. She thanked her blood doctor Max Wolf. And had a lovely moment with Diane her friend who gave a spiritual farewell. She was a great character and many friends, neighbours, friends of Keith and her children, and those who met her on her journey from King Island, to the mainland, and beyond, smiled at meeting her. Her daughters and daughter-in-law were there in the hospital with her It was a difficult and swift end - her youngest daughter Libby helped with the nursing duties in the palliative care room to the end. Sadie has gone to God we hope, as Keith will be there waiting. She was: Mother to Kelli Simpson and Libby Simpson, Mother-In-Law to Kim Bailey, and Grandmother to Sarah, Griffin, and Quinn. (Her brother Ken's children also survive her: Tamara, Su, and Matthew to whom she was their Aunty ) She will be cremated and her ashes will be placed beside Keith's ashes - and they will be scattered together at a future date.
