A eulogy for my best friend: How to share their story
Read My Tributes article where we provide support on expressing your love and friendship for your best friend in a eulogy.
Neil Ivan GOBBETT, a loving husband, father, and old-school gentleman, passed away on May 19, 2024. Born and raised in Mannum, South Australia, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and patience.
Neil was a devoted partner to his wife, Coralie (nee Richards), and their life together was full of adventure. Their unwavering support for each other was evident throughout their lives, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
As a father, Neil was a pillar of strength. He taught his children valuable life lessons, but perhaps the most important for me was patience. Whether it was teaching me how to fix my car, giving me road directions, or helping settle a teething grandchild when I was exhausted, Dad’s patience knew no bounds.
For those who knew him, Neil was more than just a father; he could fix anything, he was a friend, a confidant, and a source of comfort. His warm smile, ‘dad’ sense of humour and gentle demeanour touched the hearts of many.
As a single mother, I am forever grateful for the years Dad and Mum stood by my side. Their unwavering support allowed me to navigate life’s challenges with courage and resilience. Dad’s kindness and understanding were a beacon of light during many difficult times.
Dad, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of those you loved and the lives you touched. May you rest in peace.
In loving memory,
Your grateful daughter Bronwyn and grandson Jaymie
