With great sadness, the Australian Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate announces Fr Bernard O’Brien OMI's death on 16 January 2021.
Fr Bernard was born on 12 December 1937 in Melbourne, one of four siblings, and educated by the Christian Brothers at Brunswick and North Melbourne. He joined the Oblate Novitiate at Sorrento in 1955 and was sent to study at Cedara, SouthAfrica. He was ordained in Durban on 3 February 1962. Fr Bernard served in education ministry at Iona College Brisbane and Mazenod College Western Australia. From 1983 he has served in parish ministry, St Paul’s, Massey, New Zealand, St Pius X Dernancourt and St David’s Tea Tree Gully, SouthAustralia, and St Michael’s North Melbourne, St John Vianney’s Springvale North, St Kieran’s Moe, and St Mary’s Star of the Sea Sorrento, Victoria before retiring in 2018 to Camberwell
The Oblates thank God for the life of Fr Bernard O’Brien OMI.
