Loving and cherished Wife of Mike Reynolds. Much loved by Mike’s Son Todd, his Wife Kirinya, Mike’s Grandsons Archie and Leon, her Father Les (deceased) and her Mother Marie Mayes, Sister and Sister-in-Law of Cathy and Dennis O’Toole, Meredith and Andrew Wenta, Chris and Lesleigh Mayes, Michael and Sharon Mayes and their families, Niece of Michael and Kay Trad, Janice and Denis Cronin and Denise and John Foster and their families, Sister-in-Law of Rick and Barbara Reynolds, Daryl Reynolds and Dianne Korare and their families and the Robson, Carr and Mortimore families.

“Janice’s Love and Courageous Intellect will be missed by us all.”

All Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend JANICE’S FUNERAL which will commence with the CELEBRATION of REQUIEM MASS at 11.30a.m. TUESDAY MORNING 3rd SEPTEMBER, 2019 at the Ryan Community Centre, Morindo Drive, Kirwan.

We would like to thank the dedicated surgeons, specialists, doctors and nurses who cared for Janice over the last year since she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. In particular her surgeon Dr Lewis Perrin, Dr Kurinji Kannan, Dr Joanne Bell, Dr Richard Corkhill, Dr Mark Zonta and the nurses and staff at the Mater Private Hospitals in Brisbane and Townsville, the Townsville Tertiary Hospital and the Mater Cancer Care Centre in Brisbane.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation Will be appreciated www.ocrf.com.au Donation envelopes will be available at the Church

The Townsville District Law Association [TDLA] and North Queensland Law Association [NQLA] wish to acknowledge the significant contribution of Ms Janice Mayes to the legal profession in Townsville and North Queensland. Ms Mayes rallied tirelessly to ensure North Queensland received adequate legal services. The legal profession in North Queensland mourns the loss of not only an esteemed colleague but dear friend to many. The TDLA and NQLA pass on our sincere thanks and gratitude for all of Janice’s support. To Mr Mike Reynolds and the Mayes family, please accept our deepest and heartfelt condolences.

The North Queensland Bar Association
The North Queensland Bar Association gratefully recognises the significant contributions of Ms Janice Mayes to the profession of barristers in North Queensland. Over many years Ms Mayes volunteered her service in executive positions of substantial responsibility. Ms Mayes also contributed in an informal capacity, leading by example in the highly competent, ethical and collegiate performance of her duty to the court and her clients.

JCU Law is saddened to hear of the passing of alumnus Janice Mayes. After graduating from JCU Law, Janice remained an active member of our law alumni. She lectured students and generously volunteered to assist in many law student competitions and activities. She will be sorely missed at JCU and in the North Queensland Legal Community.

Janice Mayes, beloved Life Member of the Australian Labor Party and member of the Townsville Branch. Janice joined the Labor Party in 1988.
A mentoring figure in the Labor Party and the labour movement, Janice committed her life to social justice and improving the lives of others. Janice will be a deeply missed mentor and friend to many. Funeral details as per family notice above.

Townsville Branch
The Townsville Labor Branch mourns the passing of our former member and dear friend Janice Mayes.

Janice was an ALP member for more than 30 years and was a tireless advocate for working people, women’s rights and social justice. Janice was a life member having held a number of high ranking roles within the party and we recognise her significant contribution to the Labor Movement.

We pass on our sincere condolences to Mike, Marie, Cathy, Meredith, Michael, Chris and their extended families. Janice will forever be in our hearts.

It is with deep sadness from the Northern Left that we mourn the passing of our dedicated member and friend Janice Mayes.

Janice was a fierce advocate for the rights of all people and her contributions to policy development spanning over many years has made our nation a better place.

We will always remember Janice for her endless advocacy, her strong mind, her compassion, wit and fighting spirit and of course her lifetime dedication to the movement.

We extend our sympathies and love to Mike, Marie, Cathy, Meredith, Michael, Chris and their families. We thank you Janice, you will forever be missed.

The Queensland Council of Unions is saddened by the passing of Janice, a former President and Secretary of the Australian Services Union, Clerical and Administrative Central and Southern Queensland Branch. Janice was active in the Queensland Council of Unions and well known as an activist. Funeral details as per family notice.

Janice has been Mike’s greatest support and a committed champion of his work in North Queensland and Papua New Guinea, while contributing greatly to the community in her own work. She leaves behind an inspirational legacy of determination, commitment and community spirit that will be treasured and remembered.
