JON EDWARD BRODIE
AGED 73 YEARS
Late of Bushland Beach and formerly of Magnetic Island. Jon passed away on Thursday 11th June, 2020. Loved Father and Father-in-Law of Steven, Nicola, Paul and Ann-Marie. Cherished Grandfather of Charlie and Brother and Brother-in-Law to Tim and Brett. Jon will be remembered as a passionate, life-long scientist and dedicated protector of the Great Barrier Reef.
Family and Friends are respectfully advised of JON’S FUNERAL SERVICE which will commence at 2.00 p.m TUESDAY AFTERNOON 23rd JUNE, 2020 at the Lakes Chapel, Morleys Funeral Home, Cnr. Hugh Street and Martinez Avenue, Townsville.

JCU is saddened by the passing of Prof Jon Brodie. Jon's connection with JCU spanned 44 years, and in 2016 he joined the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies as a Professorial Fellow. Jon was a world authority on water quality, and in particular, water pollution on the Great Barrier Reef. Innumerable colleagues and students benefited greatly from his knowledge, guidance and mentorship. His outstanding contributions and impact will live on. Jon will be greatly missed by the staff and students at JCU.
