The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Wesley Johnston (Big George) of Middle Ridge, formerly of "Westquarter", Tambo. George passed away on 30 April 2025 after a short illness.
George is survived by his wife Ann-Marie, sons George and Henry and stepchildren Nick, Niamh and Claire, their partners Jenna, Aubrey, Nigel and Marty, his beloved grandchildren Conor, Olivia, Travis, Georgia, Isa, Ella, Pippa, Asher, and his siblings, Prue, Heather and Owen. He was known for his larger-than-life character and as a legend of the Queensland cattle industry.
A service to honour George's life will be held at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 7th May 2025 at the T.S. Burstow Chapel, 1020 Ruthven Street (south), Kearneys Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St Vincents Foundation Queensland in recognition of the exceptional care and respect shown for George in the last few days. We are eternally grateful. Members of the livestock transport industry are encouraged to bring their prime movers to pay their respects.
