The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
08.09.1933 – 21.03.2021
Passed away peacefully at
home in her sleep after a long
courageous battle.
Wife of Pavle (deceased),
loved Mother of Suzanna,
Mother-in-law of Domenic
and Nanny to furbabies J.D.
and Koko.
Mamma, you fought so
courageously right to the end.
Your bravery, strength, spirit
and your love of life and family
shone through everyday.
You taught me to become the
woman I am today; to smile,
to laugh, to love, and most
importantly, to be me.
You accepted me; flaws and all.
Through good times and bad.
You are so loved and so missed
that my heart just breaks.
However, knowing that you are
in a better place, without pain
and suffering gives me the
comfort and strength to
continue each day.
Our Heavenly Father now holds
and comforts you in his arms.
You will now forever be young,
healthy and at peace.
You are surrounded by your
family and friends that
passed before you.
Until we meet again my
beautiful lovely Mamma.
Thank you for being my
Mother-in-law, for the
wonderful times we had
together and especially for
loving our furbabies – mister
grumpy and miss chocolada!
I miss our Friday night dinners
and Saturday coffees. I miss
getting you your x-lotto tickets
each week and I miss your
crazy sense of humour.
I have grown to love you as
much as I love my own mother.
You will forever be in my heart
and I will continue to take care
of your daughter. Thank you
for entrusting her to my keep.
Rest now Mamma.
Thank you to my loving
husband for loving my Mamma
like no other can do.
For your strength and support.
You are my rock. Without you,
I would not have coped;
especially towards the end.
We would like to express our
thanks to Navdeep Grewal who
was our respite and Mum’s
carer support. Mum came to
love you so very much and was
always so excited to have you
visit with her. Your caring
nature is such a beautiful
quality. We have made a
beautiful friend for life.
Also thank you to Teresa and
Sofie Pascale and Lucy Aiossa
for all your strength and
support; looking after Mum
whilst Dom and I had other
commitments to attend to.
Thank you to our neighbour
Julie Spear, who especially
provided strength and support
during Mum’s last 48 hours.
Without you we would have
been lost. Thank you for your
caring nature and showing
us the way.
Lastly, our thanks to Dr Ridvan
Pllana at Trinity Medical Centre.
Dr Alicia Chan at QEH
Cardiology Clinic. Nurse Snow
at FMC Medical Day Unit.
Nurses Anne and Meg at FMC
Renal and Anaemia Unit.
Sleep now my beautiful Mum.
I will love you forever.
