The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Died peacefully surrounded by family.
The essence of Syd was one of service, humility and humour.
Syd will be remembered as an inspiring and passionate teacher, always ready with a witty one liner.
We are forever grateful that he met and held his grandchildren; Jack Sydney and Lucy Grace.
Will be missed by his wife Jan; Children Jenni, Zoe and Josh, Lachie and Emily.
Apart from friends, many people and organisations were a part of Team Syd. They were instrumental in enabling Syd to remain at home as safely and comfortably, for a long as possible, living a connected, active life.
In particular, I would like to thank Emily VK, James, Evelyn, Nikki, Claire, Steve, Donna, Michele, Joseph, Rob and Nithi.
Thank you also to Dr Alastair Mander and the rehab team at Epworth, Dr Peter Batchelor and our GP, Robert Ward who oversaw Syd’s medical care. The staff at Eastbrooke Clinic and Pardey’s Pharmacy Eastbrooke were always very kind and helpful.
The last week of Syd’s life was spent in the care of the staff at Luson The Vue. The staff were unfailingly thoughtful and kind to us all, but especially, towards Syd.
Lastly, I sincerely thank Dr Ong for the gentle, clear and compassionate way she guided us through the last stages of Syd’s palliative care.
