Darling mum,

you so often let others know

how proud you were of your sons,

but it is only now that I realise

how proud I have always been of you.

Your intelligence that inspired me

to value education and learning,

the decency of your character

informed by your Christian faith,

how you were incapable of a thought or word of malice,

that you cherished friends above all things,

committed deeply to your Lebanese culture.

Your personality affected everyone who met you

such that they could never speak more highly of you.

You were grace and elegance.

You loved us all so much.

You’ve gone away and I cannot be consoled

other than knowing you rest in peace.

Leslie

“There are two ways through life,

the way of Nature and the way of Grace.

You have to choose which one you will follow.

Grace doesn't try to please itself.

Help each other.

Love everyone.

Every leaf.

Every ray of light.

Forgive."

Mum, Teta,

you chose the path of grace in your life,

and you showed us the way.

Your life was an inspiration to us all.

Your gentle soul showed us compassion and love, always.

We will never forget you.

Your faith in God gave you strength throughout your life.

We love you.

We feel comforted.

You are home now.

Marcel, Corina, Madeline, Henry

With eternal gratitude to the staff of Helping Hand,

who became an extended family to our mother,

who adored her for her grace and thankfulness,

who provided loving care and kindness.

With enormous thanks to the staff of Ward 4D,

Flinders Medical Centre,

for their care and compassion and prudent advice.

“Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land.

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you plann'd:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad”
