Reverend Monsignor John Lyne Born December 3, 1930 Ordained to the Priesthood July 30, 1955 Passed away after a brief illness October 23, 2017. After serving in the parishes of Merrylands, Penshurst, Bondi Beach, Elizabeth Bay, Narrabeen and Berala, Father John was appointed Parish Priest of St Joesph's, Belmore in 1975. He remained there until his move to St Kevin's Eastwood in 1990 before his retirement in September 2013. Much loved son of Jerimiah and Ellen Lyne. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Cath and Jim (all deceased), Eileen and Roy, Mary and Jim, Michael (deceased) and Elaine, Gerald (deceased), Anne and Allen. Uncle and great-uncle of his many nieces and nephews and their families. He will be sadly missed by his parishioners, numerous friends including the Genesian Theatre and Sydney racing fraternity. May he rest in peace. Pontifical Mass of Christian Burial for Monsignor John Lyne will be offered in St Kevin's Church, Hillview Road, Eastwood on Monday October 30, 2017 commencing at 10.30 a.m. The funeral will leave the church at the conclusion of the Mass for the Priests Lawn, Rookwood Catholic Cemetery.
