RAINS (nee Aitken)

RAINS (nee Aitken) Iris Dryden OAM March 5, 2019. Aged 91 years Formerly of Sydney, Townsville and recently Buderim Qld. Dearly loved wife of the late Eric, loved sister of Douglas (dec), Cameron (dec) Grace and Winn. Iris qualified as a registered nurse at Prince Henry Hosp in Sydney in 1949 and subsequently gained multiple certificates in nurse specialities. Beginning her nursing service in Sydney, she then worked with the Australian Inland Mission, Palm Island and finally the Aboriginal Health Program in Townsville. In 1988 she was awarded the OAM for service to the Aboriginal Community. A private family cremation will be held at Buderim prior to Iris being interred beside her late husband Eric in Townsville.
