PURCELL, Desmond Leo

On the 24th December 2022 at Nazareth House Camberwell, Fr Des Purcell, SJ died peacefully, aged 90 years

Respected and loved member of the Society of Jesus, which he joined in 1950.

Ordained Priest: St Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, 2 January 1964

Missionary in Hazaribagh, India 1966- 1976,

1976 returned to Australia where he ministered in Queensland, Canberra and Melbourne, as Parish Priest, Counsellor and Spiritual Director promoting the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius’ Loyola.
