PETTERSON, Michael

Michael Petterson worked in the NT Legal Aid Commission Indigenous Outreach Team from 2007 to 2014. Michael was crucial to laying the foundations of this successful program that continues to provide access to justice to many vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Michael was a skilled and knowledgeable member of our team and had the deep trust of community members and colleagues. He fairly and honestly brought the views of community members to our attention at a time when their voices were being muffled by unfair and racist laws and policies.

Michael will be remembered well as a gentle elder and fearless advocate by the many people he worked with in the many important roles he held supporting access to justice in the NT, including with NT Legal Aid Commission. He will be sadly missed.
