The Executive Director of Township Leasing, Pennie Weedon, and staff of the Office of Township Leasing are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr R Tipungwuti and extend their sincere condolences to the Tipungwuti and Tiwi families.

Mr R Tipungwuti was a strong respected inspirational leader who in his many roles saw him influence and shape the Tiwi Islander's vision for land, economic and education advancement.

He will be a greatly missed voice at the Wurankuwu Consultative Forum and the ever present commitment to work for his people for a better future underpinned by strong Tiwi culture.
