Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Brisbane's racing fraternity has lost another old-timer in 92-year-old Stan Mortimer, both Bookie and Punter in the '50s, '60s and '70s. Better known as Mort the Sport, Stan is remembered for his generosity and larrikin charm. A keen golfer, member and trophy winner of the Nudgee Golf Club, he will also be fondly remembered by both the golfing fraternity and his fishing mates on Straddie. Stan is survived by Robyn, his wife of 63 years, his two children and their partners, Stephen and Katrina Mortimer, Jennifer and Christopher Bluefields, and his three grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua and Phoebe Mortimer. His family extends their sincere gratitude for the nursing staff's professional and compassionate care at Redland's Mater Private. Stan donated his body to Griffith's School of Anatomy, fulfilling a lifelong wish to go to University.
