SYDDELL, Michael John Emmitt

Born London, March 3, 1943. Died Adelaide, July 15, 2020. Aged 77. 

Mike was the beloved husband and soulmate of Glennis for 49 years. He was the loved son of Irene and John Syddell (both deceased). Dearest brother of Linda, loved and respected brother-in-law of Bernard and Marie-Ellen Schubert. Uncle of Jessica and Sam, Claire and Chris, and great-uncle of Ginko and Digby. 

A journalist all his working life both in London and Sydney. Mike was a man of diverse interests - a lifelong supporter of Chelsea FC, keen amateur archaeologist in the UK, with a deep interest in Roman and Byzantine history. He loved music and travel. Together we travelled the Roman world in our Land Rover and lived and worked in Rome for two wonderful years. 

He is now at peace in a higher place.
