McDONALD. - Lawrence (Larry) Captain (Merchant Navy) 31.01.1931 (Holyhead, Wales) ~ 26.06.10 (Melbourne) Larry passed away peacefully after a very brief illness at the Alfred Hospital. Loved and loving husband of Lucille. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Theresa and Peter, Sean, Brendan and Elaine and Damien. Grandfather of Emma, Daniel, Elsa and Braith. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues, both in Australia, at sea and in the Maritime Insurance Industry. All friends and colleagues are invited to toast Larry on Wednesday June 30, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the R Bar, 67 Beach Street, Port Melbourne. He never wanted a funeral or a fuss, so we have decided to celebrate his life this way instead. As you know, he was never a snappy dresser, so we are requesting that everyone wear jeans if possible. Sincere appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Intensive Care Unit at the Alfred Hospital, who looked after him with such dedication and compassion. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to be made to the Intensive Care Unit at the Alfred Hospital.
