The Committee & member of the Mornington & Districts RSL sub-branch are sad to announce the death on the weekend of revered member and servant of the sub-branch, Colonel (redt) Alan Martin McDonald OAM (20 Sept 1930- 17 Oct 2020). Alan served 38 years with the Australian Army graduating from Duntroon in 1951: serving with 3RAR and Commonwealth Division HQ in the Korean War. He went on to be Commanding Office of 7 Signals Regiment and Commandant Army Apprentice School Balcombe, Director of Defence Communication Systems Division and Director of Training Army Headquarters. ON retirement he bacame an active member of the Mornington RSL serving as President and Vice President and especially in his roll as Appeals and Welfare Office over many years. He was a life member of the club. He was a highly active member of the community as a shire councillor and organiser of the Red Shield Appeal and many other local activities.
The Committee & members wish to pass on their sincere condolences to Maria and the whole of Alan's family.
