It is with deep regret that the members of the Glenorchy Past Players Association incorporating New Town members will this week gather to mourn the passing of Barry.
Better known as ‘Jam-Tin’, he became a legend in his own right.
A regular attendee at our reunions for fifty years and more than generous to our cause and had a unique ability and understanding of team personnel and recruitment.
As ‘one of the boys’ he cherished and shared the camaraderie of his mates and the telling of footy stories of years gone-by.
Recruited as Assistant Senior coach to John Chick in 1963 and non-playing coach of the Reserves, taking them to a premiership in his debut season. He was also a Senior Premiership player in 1965.
Barry was presented with Life Membership of our Association and inducted to our Hall of Fame. He was player No. 622
Barry has left an indelible mark as a player, official and Club President.
To his wife Freda, Christine, Janine, AL, Robbie and Jo-Anne, and families, we extend our deepest sympathy for their loss.
