Charles Victor Harding DOB.21/9/032…. Eulogy

The recent death of Charles (Chas) ends 80 years of mateship between two cousins.

It commenced at my age of 11 years with the death of my mother, our family
was sheltered by the extended Harding family at Wallington and I lived for two
years as part of Chas’s household.

Together we did all the farm/country things that were there ‘for the taking’:
ferrets, rabbits, fishing in ‘our’ creek, bikes, exploring bushland and the nearby
river flats. We also walked 2 miles to school and back daily.

In adulthood sadly, we both lost our wives (Rita and Doreen). Several years on, we both met new partners, Marie and Joan, and they both shared the highs and the lows of the next stages of our lives.

Chas at school was somewhat disinterested, dreaming of his future Ferguson tractor and truck,
This was his early target as he ventured into potato growing and marketing very successfully.
Over the years he deserved a master’s degree in farm management, development and marketing for the consistent upgrades he implemented. These were recently recognised and awarded at Victorian State level.

Chas… thanks for walking that path with me
