Beloved husband of Lilliane. Adored Father and Father in-law of Elena, Louis, Mary-Anne, Joseph, Dennis and Jesse. Loved Pappou of Sean, Jordan, Matthew and Penelope. Cherished brother of Dimitri, Panayioti, Stavros, George (dec) and Yianni (dec).
Born in Loganikos, Laconia, Greece, 05 April 1935 to Elias and Eleni Gomatos. Theo graduated from the Merchant Naval Academy in Greece and worked in the Greek Merchant Navy before retiring as a Captain in 1968 to be with his wife Lilliane in Darwin. Theo then spent 37 years working at the Darwin Wharves as a stevedore.
Theo believed in helping others and began his community service in 1969 by volunteering on Greek radio in Darwin for 8 years playing the music he loved. He also gave up his time to serve in the Greek consul for 38 years assisting members of the Greek community in Darwin. Theo received an OAM in June 2008 for his services to the community.
Theo was a true gentleman who gave selfless love, quiet strength and courage to his family. He will always be remembered in the hearts of his family who have been left bereft by his passing.
