25/11/1954- 9/7/2021
Robert [Pip, Bob] was born in Ballarat, Victoria, the second son of William and Beryl [nee Hughes]
and the brother of Merilyn, Carol, John, Lee-Anne, and brother-in-law of their spouses respectively,
Ross Finemore, Geoff Affleck, Rosemary [nee Johns] and Vince Morrison and uncle to the next
generation.
He spent his early years in Ballarat [Vic] before his family transferred to Canberra and then
Warwick where Pip completed his education. On leaving school, Pip joined the NAB and had a successful career rising to branch management. Over the years, his postings included: Allora, Toowong, Strahpine, Mundubbera, Beaudesert, Dalby Murgon, Gatton, Milmerran, Townsville, Bundaberg and Hughenden. He really enjoyed his rural postings and the lifestyle and working alongside the towns’ locals.
In 1981, Bob married Ann Breitkreutz in Strathpine, Brisbane. They had three boys
namely Michael [who lives with his partner, Fallon], Terry and Ashley [who lives with his partner, Jazmin], and children, Hollie and Skylah, in Rockhampton. “Poppy” was their loving grandfather.
Bob loved watching sport “across the field”, playing golf, beach walking and swimming, and relaxing
with his friends and family and he spent much time doing so on Gold Coast holidays, weekends and
in well-earnt retirement years in Marcoola and Pattaya [Thailand] for quite some time before recently moving up to Bowen [Qld] where he, sadly, passed away unexpectedly.
Bob will certainly be missed by many and remembered fondly accordingly.
The memorial service will be held at a later date due to current restrictions, we will reach out to family and friends when we have the date and location set.
