Died peacefully on 18th August 2020. 

Much loved and devoted husband of Margaret for more than 56 years. 

Father to Marc, Suzanne and David, father in law to Louise, Chad and Danielle. 

Grandfather to Eliza, Max, Charlie, Emily, Jonathon, Lucy, Charlotte, Maddison, Sophie and Jessica.

Loving son of Louis Emmanuel Le Mire and Mary Berg and step son of Ingval Berg (all dec). 

Brother of Gerald (dec) and Bob.

Fondly remembered by extended families in Melbourne and USA. 

Gene lived a full and rich life devoted to family and he had a distinguished academic career, including as Professor of English at Flinders University for more than 20 years. Rare for someone brought up in the USA, he achieved deep understanding of both cricket and Australian rules football.
