PP Ron Cockell PHF 27 June 1943 - 4 May 2025
PP Gary Beckley PHF and Corio/Corio Bay Rotarians, mourn the passing of a dedicated and highly respected retired member.
Proud Edinburgh-born PP Ron Cockell PHF, was inducted in 1996. A very active and committed Rotarian, serving both Clubs in all capacities with the exception of Treasurer. He served as President of both clubs – Corio in 2005/2006 and then Corio Bay in 2015 – 2016.
His forte was Public Relations and communications and he was a very well known entertainer and Radio voice on Victorian and Queensland Radio Stations. Ron pioneered regular sessions of “ROTARY RADIO” on local FM station ‘The Pulse’. Rotary Radio covered activities through out RI District 9780 also bringing National and International Rotary news to all listeners.
On retirement, Ron’s exemplary two decades of Rotary service saw him appointed as an Honourary Member.
Ron, and his late partner Lyn Myers also a Rotarian and Past President were one of the most committed Rotary couples and active members you could meet. They lived the motto ‘Service Above Self’.
His colleagues extend their deepest sympathies to his sister Edith, and Brother in law John.
