December 1st 1929 - October 16th 2021 Died peacefully at Mercy Place Rice Village, Geelong, in her 92nd year. Josephine, Monie, the last of her generation of the Cannon family of Sunshine. Beloved and devoted daughter of the late Jane Boyd and Thomas Cannon. Loved and loving sister of Michael, Ethel, Kate, Jim and Pat (all dec), with whom she shared a profound bond. Respected sister-in-law of Kevin McGuire, Philip Wickham and Dorothy Cannon (all dec). Devoted and cherished aunt to the McGuire, Wickham and Cannon families: Thomas and Marita, Peter and Jill, Justin and Fiona, Dermot McGuire (dec), Jane and Barry Stanton; Mary, James and Ana, Timothy and Lesley Wickham; Paul, Michael and Sally, Thomas Cannon, Kate Cannon and Richard Horton; fond and proud great aunt and great-great aunt to thier families. Lifelong friend of Patricia Lane. An essential and vibrant part of all our lives for as long as we can remember - a caring presence, an encouraging voice, a warm shoulder. A wonderful nurse of empathy and skill, who worked in a range of adventurous settings, including migrant hostels, the Flying Doctor service in the NT, bush nursing hospitals in WA and Victoria, District Nursing Service, and infant welfare clinics. A woman of hospitality and generosity, and exceptional carer to those of all ages. Devoted to her family, above and beyond. Lover of all creatures great and small. The Last Rose of Summer... home now Mon, reunited with all those you loved and missed. Peace and joy forever. You've won the Lotto. We will miss you dearly, and love you always. A warm thank you to Monie's treasured friends and neighbours, and the caring staff at Rice Village.
