The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Ruby passed away peacefully Thursday morning.
She was a loving wife to Dad and a wonderful mum to Roland,Pam, Noel and Peter. She loved to see her grand kids, Anthony, Michelle, Danial and Jason and great grand kids Fletcher, Harvey and Violet Ruby. She was always smiling and her love was plentiful and unconditional for all. She never said a harsh word about anyone.
She loved to sing and met her "beautiful man" at church choir practice.
She was an accomplished singer and sang at many family and community events. She loved to run and was a fine athlete, winning as a junior both the junior and senior sprints at her high school. She had a lifelong interest in public affairs and had strong social justice values.
Mum liked nothing more than to have a cup of tea with her friends, followed by another and another.
She lost the love of her life, "her beautiful man" in 2001 but remained strong, always fashionably dressed, and looking her best right until the end. She wanted to go on. She never gave up.
Mum had a long life but for us not long enough. She didn't want a funeral. She didn't like any fuss or speeches and we will respect her wishes. Please have a cup of tea and think about her she would enjoy that much more.
We already miss her endless smiles and bountiful love.
We love you Mum.
Rest in peace.
