The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Our beautiful father has left us. You have left such a huge hole in our lives dad. Your bravery unmatched, never flinching. Always positive despite the dire prognosis. We know that you did that all for us. To relieve us of our painful burden. You are in a better place now dad, no more suffering. Head of the family, everything revolved around you. Nothing can ever be the same again. Your larger than life personality will be missed beyond words. You were so much more than a father to your proud sons. You were such a role model to us. Hard working, decent but always with that wicked sense of humour. We just hope that we can live up to your legacy. Until we see you again please know that we love you so much. Your loving sons David, Eric and Adrian. Daughter in law Toon and your beautiful grandchildren who loved their nonno so much, Tiana, Alex, Daniel and Oliver.
We met at work and we were inseparable to the end. You were always the centre of attention with your huge personality and wonderful sense of humour. You always made me laugh and I kept laughing for 57 years of marriage. You were such a wonderful father to your boys, as you called them. And of course, an amazing husband. Everything was about making your sons and my life easier. You worked so hard to give us the wonderful life we have now. But it can never be the same without you. We will find the strength to move forward but you will always be the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thought I have before I go to bed. I'll miss our chats, dinners, coffees, outings ...... I’ll miss everything we did together. I love you so much my beautiful husband. We had such a beautiful life together. Full of happiness. Until I see you again my love, behave yourself up there. Your wife, Lucia.
