Margaret came to Tasmania, as a highly regarded cytogenetics expert who undertook some important early cytogenetics research in Scotland.

Margaret worked quietly but very effectively to introduce improvements within the Haematology and Pathology departments at the Royal Hobart Hospital and was respected for giving opportunities to younger staff members.

The Royal Hobart Hospital and associated Haematology and Oncology units give thanks to Dr Margaret Baikie for her contribution to Haematology services and patient care.
