The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
20.02.1955 - 3.11.2012
Lived for her family and friends. 10 years have passed since you left us from pancreatic cancer with great bravery, grace and dignity which helped us through that ordeal.
We grew up together for 40 years. Thank you for nurturing and setting the values of our two wonderful daughters Nicole and Chelsea, who have grown into such strong and caring women. They, with their husbands Nick and Shannon, are now guiding our grandchildren, Hamish, April, Imogen and Hannah. The girls often ask themselves “what would mum have done?”
We see glimpses of your sparkle and special qualities in all of them.
All my love Albert
Dear Mum,
10 years without you does not sound real. This year seems especially hard. We cherish the memories, talk about you often and miss you always.
We love you, Nicki
For Nanna. I wish I could see you again some day. All I want right now is to spend any day with you. I’m ten years old. My favourite sports are football, cricket, basketball, swimming, NFL, mountain biking and dirt bike riding.
Love Hamish
To Nanna, If I got to see you I would spend as much time with you as possible. Even though I didn’t get to meet you, I love you. I am eight years old now and I like playing sport. My favourite sports are gymnastics, netball and dance.
Love Imogen
Dearest Mum,
10 years of longing for you. 10 years of learning to live without you. 10 years of remembering you. 10 years of loving you more than before. Apart or together, always close to me.
Love Chelsea
Dear Nanna, I wish you could be here. I really want to make something to get people to come back to life, especially you! I am 9 years old and I like dogs and rabbits. I play netball, just like mum.
Love April
Dear Nanna, I know your favourite place is the shack and I love the shack too. I am 6 years old.
Love from Hannah
