Peter Roggenkamp Memorial Weekend 13-14 June 2025

Please join family and friends at the Cairns International Speedway on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of June to celebrate the life and achievements of the late Peter Roggenkamp.

Roggo, the 'Cairns Express' and Australasian speedway champion, was a legend of speedway racing in the far north and was instrumental in the development of the current precinct at Arthur Strike Park in the 1970s.

The event will be a heart-felt tribute for Peter's love of racing and the impact it had on all of us. We will gather at the track near the commentary box and finish line, a place that held great significance for Peter, to share wonderful stories and moments of reflection.

Please bring your favourite memories to share (with or without your pewter mug and bottle of Bundy) as we come together to remember Roggo and the joy he brought to our lives both on and off the track.

For those not inclined to dirt, dust and the smell of methanol, there will also be a gathering at Fretwell Park, Edmonton on the Saturday to watch South Cairns (the club Roggo led as President, life member and where he played over 400 games) take on Centrals at 230pm. Meet us at the Billy Reed Stand (where else of course!) on your way out to the skids!

We look forward to seeing you at either event and celebrating the life of the legend 'Roggo' that truly recognises his spirit.
