The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
GOODLUCK ‘’THE MIN MIN LIGHT” Young Gordie propped his 303 & flicked the safety Catch. To the only one about he said, “Now you’ve met your match”. Both barked together at once, the flash in the night & the light. Then all hell broke loose up the fence line. Could this ‘alien’ put up a little fi ght? A Jackson candle had nothing on this; there were colours of every shade. And young Gordie’s colour was chalky white as the ‘Min Min’ started to fade. The driver was always patiently fair as he nursed this girl from new. But the canvas stretched like tightened skin, this night, as the Rover fairly fl ew. The Jeep treads hummed like a didgeridoo, as the gypsum fl ashed and flicked away. Young Gordie was muttering a ghostly flute, perhaps we will fight another day. Many thoughts with god and none with pride while racing along the ‘Top’. There’s that ‘Light’, miles away! Doing a “just knicked him” Min Min Hop! Miss you old Boy - Love always Dane, Jessika, Jo, Ben, Katie & Jem.
