The Hon Tom Pauling AO KC

The Judges of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory extend their condolences to the family of the Hon Tom Pauling AO KC on his recent passing.

Tom has made a vital contribution to the Northern Territory since his arrival in 1970. He has held office variously as Administrator, Solicitor-General, Stipendiary Magistrate, Chairman of the Racing Appeals Tribunal, Chairman of the

Police Powers Review Committee, Founding Editor of the Northern Territory Law Reports and Statutory Supervisor under the Legal Profession Act. Tom was the co-founder of the Independent Bar in the Northern Territory, and served as Bar Association president for five years.

He was also the Founding Member of the Forster Foundation for Drug Rehabilitation.

Tom has also been both a long time participant and patron in the arts. He appeared in both film and stage productions, and held office as Chairman of the Museum and Art Gallery Board, Patron of the Darwin Theatre Company and Chairman of the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
