Friends of Libraries Australia Inc. (FOLA) and Friends of the Library, Stirling Inc. record with sadness the death of their esteemed member, Christl Markovic. A leader and visionary who contributed to the development of Friends of Library groups in South Australia, in particular at Stirling, where she was a committee member for 28 years, 12 as President. Christl worked tirelessly for improved services in the Library and better recognition of its importance and value within the Council and community. Through her activism and that of other Friends a new and expanded Coventry Library at Stirling was opened in 2007. Christl was granted Life Membership of FOLA in 2014 for her tireless contribution to the community.
