The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
Walter Leslie Legg, the son of James Legg and Emerald Legg, loving father of Valerie Dawn Gwendoline Legg, loving grandfather to Noralle Joy (“Ninny”) Harper “Nee Worthington” and a husband to Christina Lillian Fellow-Smith. My grandmother Noralle Harper called Walter “Ninny” as a child. Many years down the track when I was born my first word was “Ninny” and it was unprovoked by my family. The family are still shocked today. I have also called my grandmother “Ninny” for 27 years now. Walter was with me in spirit when I was a baby. That's what we all say. Gravestone contributors refuse to respect our wishes by adding Walter's nickname to his memorial online, so I am doing this instead for my grandmother. My grandmother says “Walter is the original Ninny”. Yes, he was. Walter my grandmother loved you dearly and I will pay my respects. Rest peacefully Walter Ninny.
