The Language of Us
Doris Falidis-Nickolas’ poetry beautifully captures love, loss, and remembrance, offering comfort to those navigating grief.
We are saddened to learn the loss of Dr Bush-Blanasi.
He was a friend, advocate and supporter who worked tirelessly for decades at both a local and national level to empower Indigenous Australians.
As Chair of the Northern Land Council, Dr Bush-Blanasi was instrumental in securing sea country rights for Traditional Owners, and the incorporation of the Aboriginal Sea Company in 2022, which was an outcome of the Blue Mud Bay Hight Court Decision.
His achievements were many, including his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his role leading the NLC pre and post the High Court’s milestone Blue Mud Bay Decision.
The Blue Mud Bay Decision is at the core of everything that the Aboriginal Sea Company is striving towards, and we will continue to honour his legacy through all that we do.
On behalf of the Aboriginal Sea Company Board and staff, I extend my deepest sympathies and support to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community at this very sad time.
