Joan Elizabeth Lacaze, 87, adored mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and teacher died on Saturday 21 March, 2020.

Joan was born on 30th August 1932, the first child of Christian and Kathleen Aird. Joan lived a full, meaningful life. She was clever, strong and loving, sometimes referred to as “The Matriarch” of a large extended family. She provided kind words, advice, support and encouragement to all and is remembered as a special part of many lives.

Joan is survived by four of her children, Peter, Stephen, Amanda and Anne-Marie, her eight much loved grandchildren, Daniel, Paul, Nicholas, Alexandra, Gabrielle, Tessa, Michael and Kristian, her four great grandchildren and her four siblings Adrian, David, Margaret and Denise. She will be buried alongside her beloved son Michael. Her last words were for her children and the pride she felt in all of them.

Joan loved the sound of the ocean, walking and living by the beach and most of all, eating fresh seafood with family and friends. She was passionate about education, nature and travel - living each moment to the fullest. She adored children and animals and they loved her back. Most of all, she remembered the special moments in the lives of others, and was always available and present when she was needed. She gave her time, love and expertise generously and has left a strong legacy in the achievements of many.

Joan’s loving family surrounded her during her final days, collating a special treasure trove of memories to the end. She has been loved and admired by many, leaving a lifetime of experiences and memories that all who knew and loved her, hold most dear.

An intimate farewell ceremony will be held at Woombye Cemetery, Palmwoods commencing from 11.00am on Wednesday 25 March.
