WEIDEMAN, Murray

Date listed: 23/2/2021

The Board, Staff and Members of the Collingwood Football Club would like to express their sadness at the passing of a great champion, a respected teammate, an inspirational leader and a revered friend. A life member and legend of our club.

Murray was a brave and skilled player whose magnificent career of 180 games included two VFL Premierships in 1953 and 1958. Amongst many awards he won the Copeland Trophy as the club’s best and fairest player three times in 1957, 1961 and 1962.

He was Captain from 1960-1963, leading goalkicker in 1959-62 and Coach in 1975-76. He was a member of the AFL Hall of Fame, the Collingwood Hall of Fame and Team of the Century, and also lent his name to the Collingwood Past Players Welfare Fund.

Murray made a wonderful contribution to our club over many years and we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Victoria, Graeme, Mark, Tracey and Mia and the Weideman family.

Side by Side We Stick Together.
