Rod will be well remembered as a fighter for worker rights. Rod was a compositor at Government Printers before becoming an Organiser and Assistant Secretary for Printing and Kindred Industries Union.

He then became Printing Division Secretary of Australian Manufacturing Workers Union then onto Secretary for AMWU Retired Members Association. His contribution to the union movement and comradeship will never be forgotten.
