DILLON PE,

Rev Brendan Michael

Ordained a priest at St Patrick’s Cathedral, East Melbourne on 23 July 1966 After serving temporarily at St Patrick’s Cathedral (1966), Fr Dillon was appointed Assistant Priest at Bulleen (1967), Cheltenham (1970) and again at St Patrick’s Cathedral East Melbourne (1972). After serving as the Catholic Chaplain to the Military Vicariate from 1973, Fr Dillon was appointed Administrator of Bacchus Marsh Parish (1980) and was then appointed Parish Priest at Epping (1982). Fr Dillon’s final parish appointment was at Glen Waverley as Parish Priest from 2000 to 2017, whereupon he retired and was made Pastor Emeritus. Fr Dillon passed away at the Dame Nellie Melba Retirement Village aged 83 years. He will be remembered as being a fine example to both his brother priests and wider community, particularly the Racing Industry of which he was Chaplain for many years. Together with his recently retired brother, Fr Kevin, the Dillon family has made a huge contribution to the life of the Church of Melbourne for which we are all most grateful. The Archdiocese is most grateful for more than 57 years of his untiring service.

May he rest in peace
