WHERE IS GOD
A child looked for God high up in the sky But couldn’t find God and didn’t know why “Isn’t God up there in the heavens above Looking down on the world with forgiveness and love?”
So he looked for God down here in the street Searching the faces of people he’d meet. He couldn’t see God in one person’s face So he thought he’d start looking in some other place. Maybe God liked to sit in the park, But the only man there was old, scruffy and dark
He must have been hungry – was terribly thin And was scavenging food in an old rubbish bin. Perhaps he’d find God somewhere on the beach Remembering that Jesus liked often to teach by the water to people who’d gather around. No! There on the sand God couldn’t be found. Maybe I’ll find him up here on the hill I’ll listen and watch and be perfectly still. “God! Help me find you! You don’t seem to care!
I always thought you were everywhere!” He waited in silence and then felt a breeze Blowing softly around him, just stirring the trees.
A voice murmured softly, gentle and kind “My dear child you know, I’m not hard to find”. “I’m there in the hearts of the ones in the street In the lines of their sorrow or smiles ever sweet. I’m there in the hearts of the frail and the poor, In the hunger of one who might knock on your door!” “I’m there in the worry on a young mother’s face In the starving of people of some foreign race, In the laughter of children, I come in tears too And yes, my dear child, I am even in you!” “Please listen my child, I want you to know That you’ll always find me wherever you go. Just look to the needs of each one that you see And by helping them, you really help me!” “Look too at the flowers, birds, and the trees, The sun, rain and stars and the soft cooling breeze. I give you these gifts to show that I care. You see my dear child, I am everywhere!”

To the people who loved my Mother – Margaret Eggins She is in the sky by day, by night watching, waiting for our hearts to ignite. She is there in spirit, creating her magic, with God as her friend and us as her light. My mother is, and always will be my best friend in life. These are the poems that she hid from sight. I think it only right that the world can enjoy her love of words, her love for her children and her God. We celebrate her life by printing her poems each year. Rest in God’s love my darling Marby.
